The time frame for design and construction and the budget were limited, with scope to ‘push the boat out’ architecturally only on a few key elements. All acknowledged that achievement of these objectives relied on the organisation and daylighting of the living spaces, minimising structural interventions, yet opening up the full width to the garden year round.
We retained the fundamental major- minor spatial structure of the existing house with main rooms on the south side and circulation and service spaces - stair, utilities, wc and bathrooms, to the north. The main architectural events of the house are also its main destinations, the full height and width sliding windows of the kitchen/ dining room extension with its new polished concrete floor at garden level, overlooked by the plywood-lined gallery dormer of the main loft bedroom, with views of St. James’ spire.
With an economy of architectural means we have created a delightful family home.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
